The photographer

I'm Janette! I am a wife and mom of three great kids! You've probably met one or all of them if we've done a photoshoot together! We live in Tulare and enjoy the small-town life with our photography business.

I'm a simple lady! I love to laugh and I love to make people laugh! I love to capture your happiness in front of a camera! Nothing makes me happier than cracking a serious family member. You know the type, the people that are absolutely determined to show everyone how serious they are! Yes, I live for their smiles on camera! Life is too short to be so serious!

I love to learn about my clients and I want you to be able to live in the moment and have fun documenting your families history as you are! I want to capture your genuine selves and the little details in life. I love to make it an enjoyable experience for all and laugh until our cheeks hurt. I want you to feel like I'm a new friend that just wants to show the world just how delightful you are! I want to capture relationships and the love in your family. I know photoshoots can be such a task but once that camera is up, I want you to forget that mom was likely rushing everyone out of the house to get there in time! I want to show you just how beautiful your life is!

I have a habit of bouncing from "I/We perspective" when it's about this business! I apologize in advance for that! While I do all the shooting and editing, my family is a HUGE part behind the scenes making magic happen every day! I couldn't do it without their amazing help!

My family is my everything to me! We love to spend as much time as a family as we can. I love teaching my kids the world of running our small business and know they share the love that I have for photography too!

My journey as a photographer began when my daughters were born. I was that first time mom wanting to photograph every moment of my twin girls. Every single detail and holiday, I had to capture it! I had so much fun dressing them up and doing little photoshoots.

In 2008, Janette Smith Photography was established! I couldn't have done it without the support of my husband and family! While it wasn't on my agenda to be a full-time photographer, it was exactly what I was destined to be. Sometimes, things just fall into your path and nothing has given me more happiness than creating joy for people through documenting their memories.

As a photographer, I've been able to meet some amazing families in the Central Valley. I absolutely love bonding with them and seeing their kids grow each year! Some of them from the time they were in their mama's belly! It's a gift to see high school seniors become brides and then start their own families! I love to learn about who they are and connect on a personal level to document the happiest moments in their lives. I feel so blessed to be able to do something that I absolutely love and have fun while doing so!

I'm so grateful to call Tulare home and get to see the youth in our community grow and be part of their own life stories!

Staying close to the roots of where this journey started, my holiday mini sessions are some of my favorite shoots each year. They allow me to think outside of the box to create fun sets for children's portraits. If you follow me on Facebook Janette Smith Photography, you'll see announcements when I'm booking for the next mini session. Valentines Day, Easter, 4th of July, Back to School (Hey this is a holiday for some parents!), Halloween and Christmas are currently my regular holiday mini sessions. Every now and then we'll toss in a fun summer mini too! Creating these sets is definitely a fun part of my job and I always look forward to designing those and meeting adorable children!
